SlideShowPro for Flash user Shannon Jensen has kindly shared with us an updated version of her “Filmstrip” demonstration coded in ActionScript 3. If interested in checking out the source to see how it’s built, you can download the FLA from “Advanced Demonstration” section of the SlideShowPro for Flash download page in the Account Center.
Thanks Shannon!
PS — By the way, if you’ve done something creative with SlideShowPro and would like to share an FLA with other users, please drop us a line.
About a month ago we wrote about the next release of SlideShowPro Director, which will include the ability to build “smart” albums using metadata from your uploaded content. This can include things like tags, time stamps, media type, etc. We plan on including some default smart albums with new / upgraded installations of 1.3, and thought some of you might have an idea or two for smart albums that would be the most useful. You’ll be able to delete the default smart albums if you don’t want them in your installation, but our hope is to include some default options that would be useful and practical enough for users to keep around.
So If you have an idea or two, head over to our contact page and drop us a line. We’d love to hear from you.
A new point update for SlideShowPro ThumbGrid, the add-on component for SlideShowPro for Flash for displaying an external thumbnail navigation, is now available for download in the account center.
This release fixes a couple of little existing issues, but also rolls out some new parameters / options. These parameters include a new set of “easing” options to dictate the style (Bounce, Elastic, Standard, Strong, etc), method (easeIn, easeOut and easeInOut), and duration of the grid animation when moving between thumb groups using ThumbGrid’s navigation methods.
Also new are a couple of alpha parameters to control the transparency of thumbnail images when active and when rolled-over.
The spinner animation has been updated to match the “Spinner” preloader animation in SlideShowPro for Flash 1.9, and also includes a new duration parameter to control the speed at which the spinner rotates.
Also by request a new “Active Highlight” parameter has been included that allows designers to turn off the re-styling of thumbnails when they’re the “active” thumb. This way the user only sees “inactive” and “rollover” style changes, if turned off.
Last but certainly not least, the Component Inspector panel has been modified in a way that will look familiar to those who’ve beta tested SlideShowPro for Flash 1.9. Parameter names are now shorter, and grouped together under header categories. We think users (especially new ones) will find this easier to use.
If you’d like to read the nitty-gritty on what’s in this release, head on over to the ThumbGrid version history. To download, login to the account center.
Today we’re releasing the fourth public beta of SlideShowPro for Flash 1.9 for further testing before releasing the final product.
This version fixes, most notably, a problem where the component would cause Flash 8 to fall flat on its face (not pretty), plus a little tinkering with component events. We’ve also added a new parameter called “Director Large Publishing.” This parameter is a master switch controlling whether SlideShowPro Director returns the original images you uploaded or formats new images from your originals when creating slideshow content. It’s essentially the same as choosing “None” for Content Scale in the current version of SlideShowPro, but has the added benefit of scaling your original imagery according to how Content Scale is set.
We’re also including this option for those unique situations where SSP is sized in a fluid layout, which can cause SlideShowPro Director to generate numerous images to facilitate the small incremental changes in component size (and thus filling up disk space with lots of nearly identical images).
To read more about what’s in this release, please see the release notes.
Thanks again to the beta testers who’ve helped kick the tires and provide constructive feedback.
We had a bunch of t-shirts printed up to use as promotional items, for friends and colleagues, and thought…why not order a few more for SlideShowPro users? So we did just that with two t-shirt designs, both printed on an “Asphalt” grey unisex t-shirt from American Apparel. We’ve got equal amounts of both styles in M, L, XL and 2XL. Head on over here to pick one up.
A newly updated beta for SlideShowPro for Flash 1.9 is now available for download. This third beta has the usual mix of fixes and improvements, and one notable change to the new “Visible on Rollover” Navigation Appearance option. Based on feedback from beta testers, the navigation now appears when the mouse pointer enters anywhere inside the component area (instead of only recognizing the area in which the navigation is positioned), and disappears after the mouse has remained inactive for three seconds. The behavior is now more consistent and predictable than the first go-around.
To read about all the stuff that’s in beta 3, check out the release notes. If you’re interested in testing it out and are a registered user, you can download the beta through your account center profile page.
Small point update that fixes a wet floor rendering issue when using the optional “Floating-Gray” template. SlideShowPro for Lightroom users can login to the account center to download.
Stay where you are. We'll push the news to you.
