Every day, users of our products share their creations with us. From those submissions we pick the ten most creative, beautiful, and/or unique examples and include them in our monthly newsletter. Whichever site from those 10 stands out just a little more is crowned “Site of the Month”, which not only gives the winning user bragging rights, but also awards them with a free SlideShowPro t-shirt as our small way of saying ‘thank you’ for making us look so good.

SITE OF THE MONTH:

Imago

This month’s top example is Imago, a photography and multimedia design group in Olpe, Germany. SlideShowPro for Flash is used in every section of the site to display photographer profile photos, their company portfolio, behind-the-scenes photos, and interior shots of their studio. All of SlideShowPro for Flash’s internal elements are turned off (the navigation, captions, etc) and the component is adorned with simple previous / next buttons; plus an image counter. All together, it’s a very clean, simple, easy to navigate site with great photography.

THE REMAINING TOP 9 (ALL FANTASTIC – DIVE IN!):

This issue does not affect SlideShowPro Director Hosting customers, as always your installs have been automatically upgraded to the latest version.

07.08.09  |  SlideShowPro ThumbGrid 1.3.0 Released

A new point release for SlideShowPro ThumbGrid, version 1.3.0, is now available for download through the account center.

The main feature that’s new in this release is a new parameter: Image Inactive Filter. This parameter assigns a visual style to thumbnail images when they are in an “inactive” state. When a thumbnail image becomes active or is moused-over, the image tweens from the filtered state to the original image’s appearance. Styles include “Dim” (low brightness/contrast), “Low Saturation” (25%), “Black and White” and “Sepia.” The example slideshow below uses the “Black and White” filter style.

Taking this a step further, we’ve also incorporated support for Flash Player 10’s bitmap filtering engine Pixel Bender. This allows you to bypass Image Inactive Filter altogether and apply your own filters. If you assign a Pixel Bender filter and select a built-in filter as well, the Pixel Bender filter will be added-on as part of the final effect. This means you could use the built in “Black and White” filter plus the myriad of filters available for free at Adobe’s Pixel Bender Exchange. You can read more about how to assign Pixel Bender filters to ThumbGrid at the wiki.

Pixel Bender is still relatively new, and requires SWFs to be published for Flash Player 10 in order to function, but going forward we expect to see many more filters once the player becomes more ubiquitous and editing tools improve.

Outside of the filtering stuff, we’ve also added a Sound Effects parameter for assigning audio to thumbnail behaviors. This functions the same as assigning sound effects in SlideShowPro for Flash. There’s also a new Sound Effects Volume parameter to control the loudness of your effects.

This release also includes a few small optimization and underlying improvements, which you can read about in full at the wiki.

07.02.09  |  SlideShowPro Director 1.3.8 released

Posted by Brad Daily at 10:55 am | Permalink | More of this topic in  General News, SlideShowPro Director

We’ve released Director 1.3.8 to squash a few bugs that popped up in the recently released 1.3.7. Most of the issues revolved around the new “Download original image” link template, but this release also fixes a problem that surfaced in 1.3.7 that would prevent you from deleting albums.
