A new update for SlideShowPro for Lightroom is out that fixes an issue where the Lightroom 1 gallery wouldn’t operate correctly in the Windows version of Lightroom. This release also brings back the NAVIGATION / Link Preview Background Alpha parameter, which had been accidentally removed. Free update for all SlideShowPro for Lightroom users, and can be downloaded now through the account center.
Today we’re releasing point updates for SlideShowPro for Flash, SlideShowPro for Lightroom, and SlideShowPro ThumbGrid.
SlideShowPro for Flash is now at version 1.9.2 and includes bug fixes to both the AS2 and AS3 extensions. This release also includes an updated “Standalone” version that now features the source FLA and class files used to create the SWF. This way if you want to add or modify something with the standalone version and you also own Flash, you can use these files to publish your own “standalone” SWF for your projects. You can read the full version history here.
SlideShowPro for Lightroom has been updated to 1.4.1 to update the web gallery to the latest version of SlideShowPro (noted above).
SlideShowPro ThumbGrid version 1.2.2 fixes an instantiation issue when nesting the component as a child of a parent Movie Clip, and also includes a new setup() method. What does it do? Well, it’s for those times when you’d like to instantiate ThumbGrid after SlideShowPro for Flash has already fired its galleryData event. This way you can create an instance of ThumbGrid “on demand”, and populate it with data from the current album that’s loaded in SlideShowPro for Flash. We’ve added a downloadable FLA to the SlideShowPro ThumbGrid demo page to demonstrate how it works.
As always, all these updates a free for all registered users of the products. Login to your profile through the account center link at the top right of the page to download.
Hot on the heels of SlideShowPro for Flash 1.9 comes the 1.4 version of SlideShowPro for Lightroom. This release includes all of the new features, updates, and fixes from the 1.9 version, plus a couple of new features that are specific to the Lightroom version.
First, as announced earlier, we’re now offering our two “Pearl” and “Quartz” button packs for free due to the sheer number of people who wanted a way to use the packs in Lightroom. We could have offered a “special edition” or whatever of SlideShowPro for Lightroom to include these, but we felt it was simpler and better this way. So in 1.4 there’s a “Buttons Style” option in the Navigation panel that gives you five button options to work with.
Second, we’ve found over time that the “wet floor” effect that SlideShowPro for Lightroom can render causes stability issues within Lightroom on a few machine configurations. To get around this, 1.4 includes a new “Render in Live Preview” checkbox to uncheck rendering within Lightroom, but to keep it on in the published slideshow.
A few parameter names changed in 1.9, so the default templates that come with SlideShowPro for Lightroom have been updated as well.
To read more about the new features including tool tips, content area interactivity and more, we recommend looking at the SlideShowPro for Lightroom User Guide at our wiki.
This update is free for all users of SlideShowPro for Lightroom, and can be downloaded through the account center.
Small point update that fixes a wet floor rendering issue when using the optional “Floating-Gray” template. SlideShowPro for Lightroom users can login to the account center to download.

This release, version 1.3.6, allows you to override parameter settings assigned through param.xml with FlashVars in the player embed code. You simply create a FlashVars variable for the parameter you want to override (using the same name as used in param.xml) and assign a value. That FlashVars variable will then be used instead of the value assigned in param.xml. This allows you to do things like assign a dynamic XML File Path, change colors, etc.
Also updated in this release is an input field for “Text Strings.” The field is populated (by default) with a comma separated list of the English words used for things like the gallery navigation buttons, caption header, etc. You can edit these values to anything you like.
The release also includes the very latest version of SlideShowPro (1.8.9.8) which you can read more about in the version history.

We’ve received a number of emails inquiring about Adobe Lightroom and SlideShowPro ThumbGrid, and whether the two shall meet. Here’s the deal.
Adobe Lightroom (as of this writing) only accepts Flash galleries coded in ActionScript 2 or older. SlideShowPro ThumbGrid is an ActionScript 3 component, so in order for it to work with Lightroom it would need to be re-coded as ActionScript 2 (something we’re not doing), or Lightroom (the application itself) would need to be updated to support ActionScript 3. We obviously can’t speak for Adobe and their roadmap with Lightroom, but we can say that they are aware of the ActionScript issue.
So even if we wanted to offer ThumbGrid in a form that was compatible with Lightroom, we couldn’t. This is something we’ll be keeping an eye on going forward, but until then SlideShowPro ThumbGrid is exclusively a Flash component.
A small point update is now available that resolves an issue with the HTML Background parameter not being rendered in the live preview. This only affected the Lightroom 2 version of the extension. The product has also been updated with the latest component version of SlideShowPro. Login to your account profile to download.
A quick patch that address a data loading issue when requesting content from SlideShowPro Director, plus a correction of the version number in the gallery title (in the LR 1 version). SlideShowPro for Lightroom users can download the latest version here.

This release is notable because it forks the single extension we’ve been distributing into two — one for Lightroom 1.3 / 1.4 and one for Lightroom 2 and newer. Both versions are in the same download file.
Why the split? Well, Adobe added (to Lightroom 2) sharpening as an option when exporting imagery as part of a web gallery. We could have added a sharpening control to the single extension and called it a day, but the functionality would have been broken in non-2.0 versions of Lightroom, and most people wouldn’t have realized why the option wasn’t working.
There was an additional upside in splitting the extension, for it meant we could take advantage of the newer (Lua-based) template markup language that Adobe recommends. One of those new features includes the ability to dynamically enable/disable parameters that are dependent upon the values of related parameters.
For example, before if you selected “Numbers” as your Navigation Link Appearance, you could have changed any “Thumbnail” related parameter and nothing would have updated (for the settings weren’t applicable). In Lightroom 2 however, any “Thumbnail” parameter that’s unused will gray out and not respond to mouse clicks. This makes it much easier to see which parameters require editing based on selections you make while customizing your slideshow.
As always, the update is free for all SlideShowPro for Lightroom users and available for download here. Please refer to the updated installation instructions if you need assistance.
We’ve just released Director 1.2.6 with a few important bug fixes. First, uploads now work even when multiple tags are assigned at the time of upload. Second, when using Director with SlideShowPro for Lightroom, the live preview in Lightroom now works as expected.
Minor user interface refinements are also included in 1.2.6, along with a fix for content_list API calls that involve tag filtering. To download the update, visit the account center.
