SlideShowPro for Flash is distributed in two forms: an extension for Flash (see requirements top right) and as a standalone, customizable SWF for web developers without Flash. Both are included in the single purchase. The product comes with full documentation, customization tips, access to the members-only account center for product demos, and free support.
Adding SlideShowPro for Flash to an FLA is easy. Simply drag it to the Stage from the Components Panel, and an instance will be created displaying a live preview (shown left). The preview updates as you change the dimensions, color, and visibility of inline elements. And to aid those who are creating their own content (and not using SlideShowPro Director or one of our extras), the preview displays target dimensions as well. The extension also gives ActionScript developers access to the component's API for extra customization and control.
Over 100 customization options are available through Flash's Component Inspector Panel (shown right). The single interface allows you total control over which elements to include, what color / transparency elements should be, as well as how you'd like your slideshow to playback. When assigning colors, the panel provides a handy eyedropper palette to select any swatch.
The "glue" between SlideShowPro for Flash and the photos, videos and textual data it loads is XML. When using either the extension or standalone version without SlideShowPro Director (or one of our free batch-export extras), you create the requisite XML file in any text or HTML editor. If you've never created an XML file before, it's very straightforward, and we provide full instructions for doing so.
If using the standalone version, all of SlideShowPro for Flash's properties are controlled through an external XML file that's already been created for you. Download comes with documentation detailing all available options for every parameter that can be modified.
When published, you simply upload the files Flash creates to your web site. You can also take the SWF Flash publishes and embed it inside of a separate HTML document, or load it into a Flash movie. SlideShowPro will work from any HTML document that allows you to embed Flash Player code.
